One of our favorite Rhone varietals, Mourvedre is typically used as a blending grape. Back in 2008 when we first began using Mourvedre, we planned to blend it with Syrah. However, upon crushing the grapes, the winery filled with the smell of black pepper, and we knew that in Idaho, this unique varietal demands to stand alone.
Our 2016 Mourvedre boasts a bouquet of ripe cherry, pepper, and a hint of cinnamon. The pallet is more of the same, along with notes of blackberry, plum, thyme, and a satisfying meatiness. Pair with beef bolognese or your favorite lasagna recipe.
